The special supplement of the Journal of Mid-life Health is dedicated to the primary care providers (PCPs) who play a vital role in the preventive and overall health of the society. PCPs bridge the increasing gap between the patients and the specialists. There is a need to have a dialogue on menopausal health. PCPs have unique relationships with their patients beyond medical therapy.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) is a well-established organization with its Headquarters in Delhi and State Branches in 34 States and Union Territories. It has over 330,000 doctors as its members through more than 1750 local branches spread all over the country.

IMA's mission, among others, is to undertake several training and skill courses and educational activities for general practitioners. IMA College of General Practitioners (IMA CGP) and IMA Women's Wing runs various courses on women's health, and this supplement on menopause management adds to the missing dimension of mid life health.

There is a lacuna and a need to establish a health-care structure and referral system with family physicians as its foundation. With the fast pace of research and development, the PCP needs to be updated on the recent advances by academic training to enable them to play a pivotal role in India's health care.
